Winter is right around the corner and the temperatures are definitely starting to drop where I live. My husband is thrilled and I have to admit that I like the chill in the air, if for no other reason that because it's not ridiculously hot and humid outside anymore.
But, winter means time for winter dishes made in the crockpot - and to me, that's beef stew. And apparently it is to a few of you as well!

I love beef stew! I usually just buy the beef stew seasoning packet in the spices isle and follow the directions. It comes out really good! Oh, now i want some!

2Made beef stew last night, the kids don't usually eat it (bratty kids
)but the hubby and I love it.
Usually use the store packet though, so I look forward to some great recipes too.

JPJ, you should smashed the stew all together for them (or have them do it, depending on their ages). I HATED stew when I was little. But I did love it all mashed up with a little extra sauce on it. YUM!

8I don't like cooked carrots, so if they are mashed up into the potatoes then it is more like a fancy mashed potatoes concoction *sp?*
9They are 9, 6, and 2, I remember being picky when I was little so I try to make different dishes, and I have the "you don't have to eat it if you don't like it, but you will try it" rule. They try it but don't get excited when I make it. They (all 3) are not big meat eaters, prefer chicken to beef, and pork. They like pasta, and rice dishes, but not big on meat.
